Join us for a fun day of hiking as we raise support for 2 major projects in the rural community of Sotang, Solukhumbu district.
WHY WE HIKE:
Funds generated will help to:
1. Provide the necessary equipment to reduce mother and child fatalities at the local Primary Care Center
2. Establish the first ever IT University degree program in this remote area of Nepal
$15 for individuals
$45 for family
Includes hike, Nepali welcome ceremony, food tasting, and free bandanna.
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Join us as we share a hiking adventure with participants in 2 locations in the world: Bear Mountain, NY USA and Sugarloaf Mountain, MD USA.
Explore the scenic views of Sugarloaf Mountain, all while supporting the people of Nepal. Learn more about Nepal and Altruistic Odyssey’s work, while emerging yourself in nature.
Participants will have the option of joining one of two guided hikes: An easy 3-mile loop or a 10-mile moderate hike.
9am: Welcoming Nepali Ceremony
9:30am: Group photo
10am: Guide Hike
1:30pm: Taste of Nepal
2pm: Refreshments at the nearby Sugarloaf Winery (Optional)
MEETING TIME AND LOCATION
We will meet at the East View parking area, at the picnic tables, at 8:45 am and start hiking at 9:00 am. We will have a large banner with the name Altruistic Odyssey printed on it. You can’t miss us.
To access the East View parking area, you will want to enter the gates of the park and drive up the road to the parking area.
WHAT TO BRING
1. Although it doesn’t look like rain, you may want to bring dry clothes to leave in the car (especially socks and another pair of shoes!)
4. 3 to 4 liters of water
5. Hiking poles if you have them
There are port-a-john bathrooms available in the park.
